What do people think of the new game?

I found it to be a different game from previous D&D editions. It did not feel like I was playing D&D. It's not very good and I think will be the shortest lived version of the game.

Personally I think it is too early to tell, and impossible from the one adventure.
Overall I enjoyed the game play and thought that the fighting seemed simplified. The test of the game is how it plays once the players and DM’s are familiar with the rules. I haven’t had a chance to look through the rules as yet but it will also be the potential for character progression that will affect the uptake of the game by the players.
At entry level the characters are strong enough to have fun with and the health surges gives them a robustness that is missing from other versions entry level characters.

I have thought the brittle nature of 1st level characters to be a problem in previous editions of D&D. Having your character die is a disheartening experience, for a novice to the game it is a particular turn off. Improving this is a good thing for the growth of the game.

I have posted up a new page with images of the day.

I may yet get to rename some of the image files, so links may change.

Having a chance to play the game as a player I have changed my mind.

My beef was the game did not feel like traditional D&D as a DM, however that's not a bad thing! Encounters are much easier to manage for the DM. There is no enless pawing through rule books, every player knows what their character can do. This makes combat much more stream lined. It is more than any other version a minitures game. Whether you like that or not is up to you.
