G'day all

Who's your favourite villain / dark lord / evil arch nemesis / basic bad guys in a fantasy / science fiction novel and why? Do you have several favourite villains (I thought about doing hero's first.. but thought you guys would like villains more!)

What makes a good villain?

Who is the most believable villain / dark lord / evil god / arch nemesis?

Have you read a novel where you think the bad guys have been unfairly portrayed?

Is there a really scary villain out there that you want to share with us?

Have fun! I look forward to seeing your responses :!:

Keep smiling :)

I like Ballas, the lead character in Monument by Ian Graham http://www.infinitas.com.au/Product.php?bar=9781841491967
He is no hero, he is brave in an uncaring way. That is, he really doesn't care. He treats co-workers as decoy targets.

Hmm, I don't know why, but I've always liked Malus Darkblade. Probably because I play Dark Elves and have always liked him, but there's something about him that appeals to me.

And, I know its not fantasy/sci fi, but one of my favourite villians of all time is Christopher Walken as Max Zorin in A View to a Kill. That scene at the end where he is laughing is brilliant.

I'm not sure if she really classifies as a villian or not... but one character that I would like to nominate is Hekat from the "Emress of Mijak" by Karen Miller. She was obsessed, single minded, twisted, ruthless, determined and basically not a nice person. Religious fanatic maybe?!?!? I haven't read the follow on books in the series... but she is certainly one woman I would never want to cross!

Keep smiling
