Looks like the current D&D skirmish miniatures game will be officially 'dead' come February next year.

See this article for details ( and the new direction for the D&D minis ) :-

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4news/20081023

As you will read, the future of D&D minis from WoTC will be targeted towards the D&D 4th Ed roleplaying game and the miniatures will not include skirmish stat cards.
They do go on to state that 2nd Ed stat cards will be made available for all the existing miniatures ranges by the end of 2009.

A little disappointing for someone like myself who really only 'got into' the game at the start of this year and for the release of the 2.0 rules. It certainly doesn't bode well for sales of the yet to be released DemonWeb range of collectible miniatures for the current skirmish game.

Of course, all this doesn't stop the current game and miniatures being fun to play for many years to come, but I would doubt we'd see tournaments at any future conventions.
