The story its based on is pretty good though.

More like a vampire/zombie/ghoul/mutant movie - that's what previous films have been based on the story.
The book portrays the infected as vampires though.

I have now had a chance to have a quick look at the book (whilst I was meant to be working) and am now inspired to read it.
