Douglas Adams was born on 11 March 1952 in Cambridge. Leaving school in December 1970, Douglas won an exhibition to study English at Cambridge. His unique style of humour and vivid imagination were made famous by his HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy series - epic works including Life, The Universe and Everything and So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish.
He created all manifestations of Hitchhiker's: radio, novels, TV, computer game, stage adaptations, comic book, bath towel and, finally, he posthumously shares the writing credit for the movie.
He died in 2001 and is sadly missed.
